Abstract

The process of education health professionals is in the historical moment of reforms oriented towards the strengthening of health systems, with prominent challenges for this new century. The education of health professionals is one of the most significant obstacles to achieving the strengthening of health systems in order to effectively meet health needs. Initiatives to overcome problems related to collaboration between different health professionals are considered as priorities for strengthening health systems. Starting from the need to train health professionals better able to collaborate in teamwork, interprofessional education (IPE) is beginning to be valued worldwide. The aim of this paper is to reflect on the aspects that demonstrate the incorporation of the IPE premises in the health education policies of Brazil. Recently Brazil has been incorporating more clearly IPE premises in the policies of reorientation of health education. It should be noted that this aspect has intensified in the last two years. IPE appears explicitly in policy reformulation, which can be attributed to the recognition of policy makers on the importance of IPE in the process of education health professionals.
