Malnutrition among the indigenous population is a current public health problem and a leading cause of morbidity and mortality of children from these groups in Brazil. In order to subsidize actions to promote food and nutritional education, encompassing forest people from the Amazonas Brazilian state, whose territory borders Colombia, in addition to the field visit in 2018, we concomitantly have mapped out in literature how this population lives and how healthcare is provided. Methods: This scoping review sought topics related to the way of life of women and children in the Amazon, diet during the gestational and puerperal period, breastfeeding practices, and introduction of solid foods to the baby and care of the health services to this population group. Results: We have retrieved 21 multidisciplinary studies. Discussion: Traditional food has greater nutritional value than industrialized, the local cuisine is a source of income for indigenous women in the urban areas and a link between ethnic groups. Conclusion: The research should incorporate the health promotion paradigm and also investigates topics such as indigenous acculturation in Amazonian urban centers, the arrival of the Internet in the villages, and the role of telecare/telemedicine to better address the problem.
