Patient’s perspective on health care in the Covid-19’s context

Abstract

This is a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study with a qualitative approach, which aimed to discuss the patient's perspective about the health care for Covid-19 in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The participants were 160 patients with symptoms and/or diagnosis of Covid-19 that were attended by health care system in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire from July to October 2020. There were characterized with the software SPSS version 26 and subjected to thematic content analysis. Among the results, three categories emerged: Patient satisfaction about the health care; perspectives of patient regarding the conduct and clinical practices in health care; Feelings expressed by the patient regarding health care, symptoms and diagnosis for Covid-19. The absence of support and emotional support for the patient was highlighted, in addition to deficits in human, material and structural resources, interfering in the management of health care. It is considered that understanding the perspective of patients seen in health services may contribute to improvement the quality of care in health services.
