Abstract

Interview with the American anthropologist and activist Richard Parker, president of the Brazilian Interdisciplinary AIDS Association (ABIA) since 1998, professor at the Institute of Social Medicine at UERJ for over 20 years, Emeritus Professor at Columbia University and visiting Professor at Instituto de IESC /UFRJ. The interview was conducted on September 28, 2019, at UFPB, in João Pessoa (Paraíba, Brazil), by the Resarch Group on Health, Society and Cultura (Grupo de Pesquisa em Saúde, Sociedade e Cultura - GRUPESSC). Richard Parker presented his academic and activist trajectory, which interwines with the social history of AIDS in Brazil, and brought us some insights about the challenge of the present of the Brazilian response to HIV/AIDS.
