This study aimed to understand the appropriation of Permanent Health Education (EPS) by professionals of the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS) in Brazil and the initiatives developed in the country through an integrative literature review. We sought texts published in Portuguese, English and Spanish about EPS in CAPS in Brazil, from 2009 to 2019, That addressed the concept of EPS; whose objectives referred to EPS initiatives developed at CAPS; and about the perceptions about the change of professional practice from these initiatives. We selected 29 studies. Thematic content analysis identified four empirical categories: conceptions of EPS in CAPS; Care production and the approach to EPS in CAPS; EPS intervening factors and characteristics in CAPS and Facilitating factors and EPS devices in CAPS. It was observed that the understanding of EPS by professionals and managers is close to the concept of Continuing Education. The training actions developed are still punctual and are far from the desired transformations in health. It is considered necessary to strengthen the relationship between professionals, managers, community and educational institutions for this policy to become effective in the psychosocial care model.
