‘A seed opening the ground to germinate’: the training process with EdPopSUS popular educators

Abstract

Popular Education in Health is a strategy to strengthen popular participation in the rearticulation of the Brazilian Sanitary Reform. As the implementation of the National Policy for Popular Education in Health, we have the Free Course of Popular Education in Health - EdPopSUS. EdPopSUS educators participate in a selection, composed of a course of popular education in health.The coordination of Ceará continued the training after selection, autonomously. This article is a look at the formative process experienced by educators. We aim to analyze the conflicts evidenced in this process in the light of popular education, dialoguing with the overcoming produced from acts-limits. This is a qualitative approach case study. A content analysis was carried out based on interviews with 23 educators. The course aimed at educators presented a great possibility of realizing the principles of popular education. The competition for the selection, the non-participation of everyone at all times and the constitution of the pairs were some of the situations-limits experienced by educators. Such situations were mediated by the experience of the principles of popular education, pointing out limiting acts for its exercise in the current conjuncture, especially within the scope of the Unified Health System.
