The objective of this study was to understand the oral health care of people with orofacial cleft and their expressions. This research had the history of life as a methodological resource. It was analyzed the narratives of four women between the ages of 19 and 28, living in the urban area of a brazilian northeast municipality. It was structured four meetings. In these meetins were performed the construction of an identity and formation of a bond, rescue of social and community support networks, paths taken in health services and evaluation of actions and services. The meetings were recorded and transcribed. The analysis of the data was inspired by the hermeneutic approach of P. Ricoeur. It was identified four sense units: Be person with cleft?; Health care network; Oral health care for people with orofacial cleft; and, Evaluation of health services. It was concluded that the health care of these people is centralized in a single service in the municipality and there is little involvement and appropriation of the cases by the primary health care. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee with the number 2,059,339 and the names of the subjects are fictitious.
