An evaluation about the effectiveness of policies and programs for improvements in child health is essential. For this purpose, we aimed to establish an Evaluation Index for each objective of the Rede Mãe Paranaense Program (RMP), stipulating the degree in which the objectives and goals have been fulfilled. A total of 139 women were interviewed six months after childbirth (July 2017 - January 2018), through a data collection and evaluation tool for the child health booklet during a home visit. The analysis was performed by comparing the frequencies obtained and the expected frequencies, calculating the proportion in which the targets were reached. The variables under analysis were categorized into domains defined in the program, generating an evaluation index for each one, these are: Maternal satisfaction in relation to the follow-up of the baby (68%), Follow-up in childcare (67%), Quality and solvability in care (55%), Risk stratification (6%). It was concluded that the evaluative indexes portray low efficacy in the child follow-up, and the result obtained for each objective is lower than the minimum for each goal (70%). Emphasizing the urgent need to review the implementation of the RMP in order to improve health care indexes in primary health care.
