Act of caring: experiences and perceptions of a harm reducer
Keywords:
Empathy. Harm reduction. Drug users.Abstract
The present text presents critically the experience of the relation of care that a harm reducer established in her professional life when she was part of Harm Reduction Program of the Federal District . Before that, it has the objective to share stories that were marked, just as her perceptions and livings of care act in the street’s scenario and with people who use drugs. The experience report was used as a method. Many of the findings between harm reducer and drug users result in a space of reprocity reguled in interactions, dialogues and care. All these led to a ressignification of the act of taking care. To seek a subject-subject encounter and to adopt a perspective of care that involves living work in action is a great challenge when one is inserted in such an individualistic logic of desires, affections, relationships. These reflections further strengthen the idea of constructing an act of caring that is more human, genuine and daily.
