The supervisors’ perspective on comprehensiveness among the Cuban doctors participating in the Mais Médicos Program (More Doctors)

The supervision in Program Mais Medicos (PMM) observes clinic-pedagogical actions to qualify the care and is articulated with the relevant strategy of doctors’ fixation in the Primary Care. This article analyzes the supervisors’ perspective about Cuban doctors in the PMM regarding the practise integrality, exploring its dimensions from biopsicosocial comprehension of care, community oriented and from wider option of promotion, prevention and assistance actions. To achieve this goal, the supervision monthly reports dated between 2013 and 2015 were analyzed by topic and a focal group with supervisors was held. Results show that Cuban doctors in PMM develop wide variety of actions with community insertion, preventive approach, activity planning and good interpersonal relations. Challenges that were not restricted to the PMM, in many cases, were related to an approach focused on the person, on the mental health and in the insufficient performance of certain procedures.
